About the position

PKF Taxation Services Limited (Mombasa Office) seeks to recruit an experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Tax Associate. The job holder will report to the Tax Manager and will be responsible for carrying out activities in the Tax Department as directed by the tax manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The job holder’s duties and responsibilities are outlined as follows:

  • Preparing and filing of tax computations and returns for review by the team lead.
  • Ensuring that approval for filing tax returns is received from the clients and assisting in the filing of the returns.
  • Preparing estimation of penalties and interest on late payment or late filing of returns.
  • Provide assistance to prepare late return notifications and assisting the team lead to inform clients of the same.
  • Preparing/reviewing instalment and final tax payment notifications for review, assisting to advise the clients of  the same and ensuring that all payments channelled through the firm are remitted on a timely basis.
  • Following up change of details on the tax platform including the change of financial year-end.
  • Reconciling the tax account to the audit file and ensuring that the clients’ tax status with the revenue authority is current.
  • Responding to revenue authority tax demands and following up regularising clients’ tax status.
  • Making waiver applications arising from statement reconciliations and following up on the same.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in either of the following disciplines: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, or Chartered Financial Analyst.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Exceptional planning, organization and time management skills.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity; good
  • Good negotiating and communication skills (both written and spoken).
  • Highly assertive, well-spoken and articulate.
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented; self-driven and pro-active.
  • Commitment to organization’s vision and values.
