Our client, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), is a state agency of the Government of Kenya established under the Kenya Revenue Authority Act of 1995, CAP 469. KRA is seeking to recruit a results-oriented, self-driven, dynamic, and experienced individual with high integrity to fill the below positions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enabling the Authority to deliver its mandate.
Terms of Service: Five (5) years contract renewable up to attainment of mandatory retirement age.
Remuneration: As per KRA salary structure
Job Summary
The jobholder shall be responsible for overseeing the compliance management process and revenue operations with the Micro and Small Taxpayer Department of the Authority.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to effectively collect revenue due from economic activities.
- Formulate strategic plans, policies, procedures and best practice and work closely with other divisional heads.
- Spearhead formulation, implementation and review of the Divisional annual work plans.
- Manage and facilitate resources required for the effective performance of the mandate of the Division.
- Support and implement strategies to drive innovation, including automation of processes in line with the overall strategic plan of the Authority.
- Lead in the execution of risk management policy and strategies that ensure the Division has a robust system and processes of accountability, risk management, internal controls and business continuity.
- Provide leadership and develop mechanisms for corporate consultations, increased public participation and involvement in Authority’s policies and programs.
- Oversee implementation of adopted principles of Corporate Governance, applicable laws, relevant national policies, guidelines, and directives within the Division.
- Oversee robust performance management within the division through providing oversight of the delivery of the annual performance contract.
- Provide leadership in the Division through supervision, coaching, mentoring, training and development of the divisional staff to ensure an effective and motivated team.
- Oversee the conduct of regular returns reviews and compliance checks based on applicable compliance management frameworks.
Person specifications:
For appointment to this job, the candidate must have:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Fiscal Management, Law, Taxation or related fields from a recognized institution.

A Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience, at least five (5) of which should be in senior and/or middle management levels.

Professional qualification and Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing.

Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution 2010.

- Valid tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Current clearance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
- Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
